Here are some of the thoughts from our members as to why they enjoy Probus
In March 2017, as I had some spare time, a friend who is a member of the Probus Club of Verwood suggested I approach the Probus Club of Salisbury. I was made to feel most welcome and I became a member. I have since had the pleasure of meeting members twice a month from varied backgrounds and the camaraderie has been excellent both at the meetings and at the lunches following the meetings. The guest speakers have been very knowledgeable on the subject of their talks. My wife has also met friends from her social network at some of the lunches and outings where partners are invited. I commend the Probus Club of Salisbury to anybody who is looking for friendship and who wishes to expand their knowledge on a variety of subjects.

I recently joined Salisbury Probus on the recommendation of a friend. Having been retired for a year, whilst not missing work, I did miss the camaraderie and banter of the professional environment, and the sense of being part of a team. I’ve made many new friends at Probus, something I didn’t really expect in later life, and look forward to our meetings and social events. The lectures and talks are always interesting, and the accompanying discussions are stimulating and thought provoking. I was warmly welcomed into the Salisbury branch, and look forward to making new friends as new members join. I have no hesitation in recommending the Probus Club of Salisbury to anyone who is in a position to join.

Changing life circumstances and COVID isolation have made me very aware of the need to grasp all opportunities to expand my social circle. I joined Salisbury Probus in 2020 on the recommendation of a cousin who is a member of Probus elsewhere in the UK. What a great decision! Probus has no religious, political or masonic affiliations. Its primary purpose is to provide a platform for fellowship and speaker presentations across a raft of diverse and stimulating topics. I have made valued new and inspiring friendships and enjoy the camaraderie and male banter. Regular monthly themed lunches at The White Hart and pub fare on other occasions. Plus organised group outings and events with partners all add to the variety and spice of life with this great group of guys. If you are reading this and wonder if it is for you, I would recommend you give it a try. I very much doubt you will be disappointed.

I was kindly proposed by a long standing member and have since been grateful. My father was a member elsewhere and I can now see the value he put on Probus – an old story.

I find Probus offers me plenty of friendship and fellowship in a convivial and light hearted manner.
