CONSTITUTION OF THE PROBUS CLUB OF SALISBURY
Name
The Club shall be known as the Probus Club of Salisbury.
MEMBERSHIP
Membership shall be open to those who have fully or partly retired from their normal profession or business. A proposal for membership shall be made in writing by an existing member and the Committee shall consider such proposals. The membership shall be restricted to 85 members, except in the case of applications from members of other Probus clubs who have moved into the Salisbury area.
The Committee may, at its discretion, offer Honorary membership to members in recognition of their significant contribution to the Probus Club of Salisbury.
The Committee may, at its discretion, offer Associate membership to long-serving members who have been unable to attend meetings for over six months due to ill health or advancing years but wish to remain in contact with the Club.
MANAGEMENT
The Club shall be managed on behalf of members by a Committee consisting of:
President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Programme Secretary and
Webmaster/Publicity Officer
A quorum of the Committee shall be three members, two of whom must include the President, Vice President, Secretary or Treasurer.
The Committee shall have power to co-opt members and to appoint non-committee members to meet needs which may arise from time to time.
MEETINGS
The Club shall normally meet on the first and third Friday of each calendar month at a venue to be decided upon by the Committee.
The Annual General Meeting shall normally be held on the second Friday of each July, when the accounts for the previous year to the end of March shall be presented after audit by a member of the Club appointed at the previous Annual General Meeting.
Any of the Club’s meetings may be designated by the Committee, by giving 14 days’ notice to members, as an Extraordinary General Meeting to discuss matters which cannot be held over until the following Annual General Meeting.
SUBSCRIPTIONS
The subscription for full members, to be paid annually, shall be determined at the Annual General Meeting and shall be payable within one month of the due date. If not paid within two calendar months of the due date, membership shall lapse.
Honorary members shall be exempted from paying the annual subscription.
Associate members shall pay a reduced annual subscription, the rate to be decided each year by members at the Annual General Meeting.
ATTENDANCE
Apologies for absence and notice of guests who have been invited to a Club meeting should be passed to the Secretary before the meeting.
