Our Salisbury Probus member, Ron Collins, was the star of the show in Salisbury Guildhall square on Saturday 26 October when he joined other armed forces veterans at the launch of the 2024 poppy appeal.
Former Salisbury Probus Club secretary, Derek Pawson and current Club President, Godfrey Ball, were there to support Ron and record the event.
Ron was chaperoned by his daughter, Julie Collins, who had flown from Brisbane, Australia to be with him .

The Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Wiltshire, Lieutenant-General Sir Andrew Gregory KBE CB DL , expressed his wish that he could look as spritely as Ron at age 103!

Ron was presented with a poppy by Salisbury’s mayor, Cllr Sven Hocking.

Then it was time to celebrate Ron’s 103rd birthday with a cake specially prepared – complete with candles which Ron extinguished with gusto.

Ron continues to inspire us all and we are very fortunate to count him as a friend and member of Salisbury Probus.
