Worried about Phishing Emails?

Here’s how to check if your suspect email is genuine:

  • Look at the ‘From’ details in the email header. Does it contain the name of the company purporting to be contacting you?
  • Does the email include your name, or is it just an open message to anyone?
  • Does it invite you to enter personal details or click a link to do so, often with a promise of financial help or gain?
  • Does the email purport to be from the Government, a Utility Company or other ‘official’ organization? If so, it should include specific references to you that you can verify.

If you are suspicious in any way, you can just forward the email to report@phishing.gov.uk

This is the  National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) who will investigate it. See https://www.gov.uk/report-suspicious-emails-websites-phishing
